Bloemfontein Off Road Newsletter 09 September

Our MX Spring Fun Day last Saturday was a huge success exceeding our expectations with over 40 entries. I want to thank all our club members who supported the club, whether it was working in the pub, kitchen, documentation, lap scoring, marshalling, starts, commentating, or just taking part in the MX races. I can tell you that this club thus far is having one of its best years as far as member support is concerned, everyone seems to be involved.

I must say that the riders put on an excellent show which was enjoyed by all. I hear rumors that a couple of Off road boys are trading in their bikes for MX bikes. A concern of mine is the 50 cc, 65cc and 85 cc classes were not well supported as they are the future of our club and I know that there are many small bikes locked up in garages. I encourage all old toppies to pull out their own bikes and the kids bikes and come join in the fun on the Guy Fawkes fun day on 5 November 2011 as there is even a class for us old Toppies.

Herewith a list of sponsors of the MX spring Day. A BIIIIIG thank you for your support, without these companies the day would have not taken place.

More pics!

Tinus Van Den Berg was visiting and took a few pics... posted on his Facebook album! Thanks Tinus!

Thanks to the team...

that made this MX National the awesomest ever!

There were still some ponds remaining from the previous weeks deluge!

Getting that hole shot!

Like ducks is a row!

Spectators! Wow the biggest turnout ever!

7th Heaven! The jump that seems so terrifying but loved by all that have mastered it!

Pit lane!

A view from the Marathon Mountain!

A very fine day after all!

This was the morning after the day before, hard to imagine how busy it had been, then the front end loader arrived and the post race fix up was done, this was the first time we have done this and the track should stay in this condition for at least 3 months now, I hope all the locals appreciate Anton's effort as well.

Anton doing his thing! If I ever win the Lotto I will buy him a tractor!

Cornering at speed!
Well done to Anton and all the other members that did their part in making this 20th anniversary BORC National a great success!

B.O.R.C. NEWS FLASH

Due to unpredictable weather, the traditional Wednesday braai will be postponed.

Other news is that the final track layout for the MX National on 18 June 2011 has been completed. The Snr track incorporates routes for the junior beginners (65 & 85 cc) bikes. The big step-up (Marathon Mountain) has been changed so that it can either be jumped or ridden.

Also a new whoop section has been incorporated.

The 50cc track was also completed last weekend.

We are expecting a lot of out of town visitors as from this weekend who are going to practice for the up and coming National.

The bar will be open every weekend up to the National, so please, support the bar and do not forget to bring your bike along
Track sketches of both tracks are on the Documents for 2011 National page
